Within the Town Clean Up Initiative Program, Middle School students spend time throughout the year, after school, preparing the community garden site, ridding the streets, sidewalks, canal, and park of trash and litter, as well as doing some hefty leaf clean up on main street. The teens meet at Open Door Project, have an after-school snack, and then head out to improve the town they call home. Community is built among the participants as they work together to do meaningful work that gives them a sense of purpose.
