Art Empowerment

Art Empowerment is a group being offered at Open Door Project that encourages creative expression through art in a supportive group setting. Participants will become more aware of how art can be a powerful and healthy outlet for self-expression, while in a setting that promotes this confidence in self-awareness and connection.

Art Empowerment is being offered for students in 2nd – 5th grades, and it is being held here at Open Door Project on Thursday evenings from 6:30-8:00, for 8 consecutive weeks. Because of the nature of the program, and to maximize its effectiveness, we will be limiting the group to 10 students.

If you are interested in registering your student for Art Empowerment, please email us at opendoorproject.reg@gmail.com. We will be asking that you commit your student to attending each of the 8 week sessions, with the exception of sickness, or other unforeseen circumstances, due to the very limited group size.  In your email, please explain how you believe Art Empowerment is a good fit for your student, and why you feel he or she would benefit from participating.

Meet our Art Empowerment facilitator:
Lynette Lemke has always considered art to be an important part of her life since she was a young girl. As a result, she followed her love of art and received her Bachelor of Arts in Art at Siena Heights University in Michigan and her Master of Arts in Art Therapy at Marywood University in Scranton. Personal connections she made led her to Pine Grove to eventually settle with her husband and children. Her work experiences as an Art Therapist include interacting with children and teenagers in a variety of settings, including children and families involved in the foster care/adoption system. Lynette is looking forward to giving back to our community by showing children how empowering art can be!
