I Matter is the largest program facilitated by the Open Door Project and takes place in the Pine Grove Area Elementary School for grades K-4.
The objective of the I Matter Program is to communicate to each child about their worth as an individual, and to come alongside of each student as they grow and develop into the person they will become.
We hope to help each student understand the importance of seeing not only their own worth, but that of every other student as well.
The learning units of I Matter include self-worth and individuality, labeling and understanding feelings, practicing healthy coping skills and mindfulness techniques, friendship and kindness, and caring for our community and Earth.
Lessons are taught once a week in a collaborative and interactive style in the school’s LGI room. Lesson include a mix of crafts, games, music, and movement to help students learn lessons while having fun and building connections with their peers!
