Your Voice, Your Impact: How to Help Us Build a Stronger Community

Hello neighbors and friends!

We may not have any programs going on right now, but there is lots happening behind the scenes here at the Open Door Project. Check it out:

A Community Garden in Need

Have you heard? Our local Community Garden, where hundreds of students have learned to plant, grow, and give back, is at risk of being lost. Every summer, we partner with the Pine Grove Community Garden to host programs where children not only learn how to grow food, but also build friendships, practice teamwork, and develop valuable social-emotional skills.

The impact of this garden is huge. Hundreds of students have walked through our doors, down to the garden, and planted and tended to produce that has gone right back to local community members for free!

But now the land is up for sale. The good news? Pine Grove Community Garden has the chance to purchase it and secure this space for generations to come. They are awaiting 501(c)(3) nonprofit approval, so donors will soon enjoy the full benefits of giving to a registered nonprofit, but donations are needed TODAY.

Here’s the math: 400 people x $25 = $10,000 goal met. That’s it. Together, we can save this space of joy, learning, and connection!

Even if you can’t give today, consider sharing the information with a friend.

Shaping the Future of our Programs

As we prepare for our Fall schedule and curriculum, we want to make sure our programs truly reflect the voices and needs of our community.

That’s where you come in. Whether you’re a parent, caregiver, educator, or community member, your perspective is essential in shaping opportunities for our youth. By sharing your experiences, you’ll help us design programs that meet real needs and create meaningful impact.

Our short survey is anonymous, takes only about 5 minutes, and will directly guide how we serve young people this year. Your voice matters and we can’t do this without you.

Thank you for taking the time to help us grow stronger together.

A Back-to-School Message

As the school year begins, we want to send a wave of encouragement to every student, family, and educator in our community.

To our students: may this year be filled with curiosity, growth, and the confidence to know you matter and are loved, just the way you are.

To our families: we see the love, care, and late-night energy it takes to nurture young learners. You are doing an incredible job. Don’t forget to take care of yourself when and where you can.

To our teachers and school staff: thank you for the heart, patience, and dedication you pour into every classroom. The impact you make will ripple far beyond this year. We see your work and we know how important it is.

We’re cheering you all on and sending all the good vibes for a year of learning, laughter, and new possibilities.
