What’s Happening at the Open Door Project
Hello, friends! We hope everyone is enjoying the season and looking forward to the holidays! We are currently in full swing with our Fall programs, and we are having a blast! Take a look behind the scenes to see what we’ve been up to, what we are looking forward to, and the ways you can help us create a place to belong in our neighborhood!
Currently
This semester we have roughly 250+ students involved in our programs. Some of this semester lessons include themes of self-worth, perseverance, kindness, inclusion, and building confidence and coping skills. Here’s a few pictures!
On Air with WVIA Radio!
We had the wonderful opportunity to meet with Lisa Mazzarella at WVIA radio and share the mission and heart behind the Open Door Project. If you’ve ever wondered what we do and why we do it, this is the perfect glimpse inside—highlighting our programs, our belief in nurturing the next generation, the way our small community rallies together to support each other, and the beautiful moments when adults reconnect with their inner child. That and more! Click here to head to the podcast and give it a listen!
All Treats and No Tricks!
We had a wonderful Halloween evening sharing cookies and milk with Pine Grove’s finest trick or treaters. Thank you for visiting us and making us smile with all of those fantastic costumes!
Coming Up!
December will be here before we know it! We are excited to participate in the 5th Annual Christmas Stroll in the Grove. Here’s what to expect:
Enjoy cookies and take photos with the The Magical Claus Family!
Savor coffee and hot chocolate with all the fixings available for the whole family!
Make your own DIY Christmas ornaments!
Write letters to the North Pole!
Get your face painted by the wonderful Fawntastic Faces starting at 11:00 am!
Ways You Can Help
Due to changes in grants and limited funding availabilities, the Open Door Project is currently only being funded by donations. Our organization is doing everything we can to ensure we keep program costs as low as possible. If you’d like to help us in our mission, here’s a few ways you can get involved!
Consider Donating
Monetary donations help us purchase supplies and cover the overhead costs associated with running the Open Door Project. Click here to find out all the ways to give which include donating conveniently through our website. Thank you so much for your consideration!
Check Out Our Amazon Wishlist
We added some new items to our Amazon Wishlist! The children have been loving the after school toy bins. It's been a great way for them to have fun after school, practice fine motor skills, and partake in imaginary play! They have also been loving sticker books, and we could always use drinks, snacks, and lollipops! Thank you in advance! Check out our list here.
Thank You To Our Most Recent Donors
The following business and organizations recently made generous donations to the Open Door Project. We are so thankful for their support!
St. Jacobs Lutheran Church

POM of Pennsylvania LLC
Hidden River Credit Union

Thank you so much for taking the time to find out what’s going on at the Open Door Project. We can’t do this work without the help of our community! From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your continued support. Big or small, it all adds up!
